A Quiet House

May 30, 2009

This morning has been extremely quiet around our house.

Sarah Ann left yesterday afternoon to spend the weekend in Atlanta with Nanny, Pops, and Uncle Jeremy! I heard her laughing while I was on the phone with Nanny this morning, and I miss those sounds being at our house! She is such a happy baby, especially in the morning–we love hearing her laugh, watching her smile, and seeing her get all excited about her breakfast and playing with her toys! Each day is a brand new experience, and each day gets better and better!

Daddy has lots of studying to do this weekend, and Mommy has cheerleading choreography (which is going to be awesome by the way!), so it was a great weekend to let Sarah Ann take a little trip. Tonight Mommy and Daddy are going on a date…all while Sarah Ann will be getting lots of love and attention from family and friends in Atlanta!

And tomorrow we will wake up to a quiet house again–and I hope the day goes by fast, because we will be ready to see our princess to get back tomorrow evening and have sweet noise back in our house! She might even get to stay up late so that we can play… :)

Dora, Dora, Dora The Explorer

Sarah Ann loves Dora the Explorer—it started out with her enjoying the bright colors, but now it is so cute to see her smile when someone sings “Dora, Dora, Dora the Explorer” and when Dora (or really anyone) says “Swiper, no swiping!” It also just amazes me how her brain can recognize and remember sounds and words and music–she such a smart little baby!

Sarah Ann has several Dora toys that she loves to play with…when we give Sarah Ann her Dora doll, her face just lights up and she gives us a big grin! Mommy loves the Disney princesses, but last weekend when we gave Sarah Ann the “choice” to pick out a new beach towel, she picked the Dora one over the princesses! I guess I will just have to accept the fact that Sarah Ann is going to be a Dora girl–at least she will learn some Spanish!

Food Fun

May 27, 2009

Sarah Ann has become very interested in grabbing the spoon while we are trying to feed her. Monday morning I think I made her applesauce/cereal a little too thick, so she decided that it would be more fun to try and feed herself and play with her food. I grabbed my I Phone and got a couple silly pictures of her covered in food! She’s cute even when she’s messy!

Sarah Ann now eats rice cereal, applesauce, bananas, pears, carrots and sweet potatoes! We are going to try green beans later this week! I am so proud of her—now maybe we can just work on getting more of it into our mouth!

Friends :)

May 23, 2009

Sarah Ann got to spend some time with Anna Claire and Charlie today! Most of the babies she plays with are her age or a little older, so she seems a little confused as to why the twins don’t really play yet…but before long all three of them will be running around the neighborhood! We are so blessed to have Devin and Kathy as friends, and Sarah Ann is definitely blessed to have great friends like Anna Claire and Charlie too!

Here are a couple pictures of Sarah Ann and the twins…we can’t wait for lots more playing and lots more pictures!

Can She Stay Like This Forever?

May 21, 2009

Every night before Jeffrey and I go to sleep, we go and watch Sarah Ann for a couple minutes–she is absolutely precious cuddled up with her lovey, fast asleep and looking so peaceful.  The other night after watching Sarah Ann and then crawling into bed, Jeffrey said, “Can she stay like this forever?”

Tonight after she got done eating, she fell right to sleep in my arms–she loves to cuddle, so I just decided to hold her and watch her sleep for a little while.

I know she can’t stay like this forever and one day she’ll be too big for me to hold in my arms, but right we want to just slow down and take in all of these wonderful moments that make each day with our princess better than the day before!

Watching the Rain

May 19, 2009

Last night on the way home from dinner with friends, Sarah Ann was mesmerized by the rain–she watched it come down the whole way home. When Jeffrey got her out of the car, she just kept looking at the rain pouring down. There was still a few minutes before Sarah Ann had to get ready for bed, so Jeffrey bundled her up and took her on the front porch to watch the rain. These are the sweet and simple moments that will last forever–they were absolutely precious just sitting and watching the rain come down!

5Let them fear You while the sun endures,
And as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
6May he come down like rain upon the mown grass,
Like showers that water the earth.
7In his days may the righteous flourish,
And abundance of peace till the moon is no more.

Relay for Life 2009

May 18, 2009

relay4life

Jeffrey, Sarah Ann and I attended Relay for Life this past Friday night in Lexington. My school had a team, and Sarah Ann loves the attention she gets from all of the other teachers at school. Sarah Ann also enjoyed walking…she just babbled and laughed the whole time…she loves being around people! We can’t wait to see what she will be like next year!

Relay for Life was also a very sweet and special time to remember our family and friends who have battled with cancer, and it is amazing to see all of the survivors take the first lap around the track! Sometimes it is hard to understand why so many people battle with cancer each and every day—but we know that God is sovereign and He is doing an incredible work and He works all things together for good!

Sarah Ann’s Baby Dedication

May 15, 2009

On Mother’s Day we participated in the baby dedication at the church where I grew up, First Baptist Powder Springs. There were several other babies dedicated as well, and it was a very sweet time! Sarah Ann did a wonderful job–even though it was getting close to nap time. And I must say that she looked absolutely adorable in her white dress.

After church we of course had to have a little photo shoot…my wonderful husband takes some great pictures!

A dear friend of mine sang this beautiful song during the service on Mother’s Day…

You knit me together in my mother’s womb you search me and know me you make all things new

You created me and all that I can see was woven by your hand and it is good

You created me so that I can be holy, holy, you are holy, you are good

Even in darkness you will shine as day. Guiding me in your everlasting way

You created me and all that I can see was woven by your hand and it is good

You created me so that I can be holy, holy, you are holy, you are good

Jeffrey and I feel completely blessed and humbled to have this beautiful gift from God! She has brought us so much joy, taught us so much about grace, and completely captured our hearts! Our utmost desire is to see her come to understand God’s love for her and to develop and grow into a deep personal relationship with them. We pray that God will continue to mold us into the parents He wants us to be for Sarah Ann, and we are so thankful for family, friends, and the church to help encourage us! Thank you to everyone for your love, support and prayers…we are so grateful that you are a part of Sarah Ann’s precious journey!

First Tooth x2 :)

May 14, 2009

Sarah Ann currently has her 2 bottom teeth coming in at the same time! She has been a little fussy and drooling a ton, but she is really handling it very well. They have just come through the gums, so the next few days could be interesting…we have been able to feel them for the past couple days, but I finally saw the 2 teeth today when she was laughing! Our sweet girl is growing up way too fast!

So, here’s a question for all you Mommies out there…what is the best thing you found or did to help with teething?

Let’s Eat!

May 13, 2009

We have decided to try a new food every week, so this past Sunday Sarah Ann had bananas for the first time. She really liked them…Jeffrey couldn’t get it to her fast enough! She has really done a great job with the whole eating thing…as soon as she sees the spoon, she opens her mouth wide and she is ready to go!

Maybe I won’t post pictures of every new food, but we are very proud of her–she is our great little eater! We have moved to a 4 hour schedule during the day too, and she has adjusted wonderfully!

We are going to try a veggie next week…hopefully she will like them too! Ok, I just might have to post some pictures of it…
